Beginner Budget Basics

Looking to place your first EVER order of stamps?

My biggest recommendation is a subscription to Paper Pumpkin.

Don't worry! You can get it one month at a time--there is no obligation to continue, but you might be tempted to do so once you see all the fun! Paper Pumpkin is a themed paper crafting box. It costs only $22.00, and comes with all the paper, ink, stamps, and a size D similar stamp block (with your first kit only!). This is a great way to explore the world of stamping and paper crafting, and decide if you want to make the bigger investment of stamping supplies. You get to make 8-12 cards or 'items' like treat boxes, candy crackers, etc. It is also awesome for people who are super busy and need 'fast crafting'--maximum crafting with minimal time. Contact me for any questions or to subscribe. You can also visit the Paper Pumpkin link on the left link bar or click below to subscribe with me!

Here is the promotional video for November's kit:

My recommendations to get you started, outside of Paper Pumpkin, assumes you don't have any supplies at all. My selection will get you out the door for less than $60.00. These supplies will have you crafting for quite a while too!:

1. Adhesives-Stampin' Seal (152813) $8.00

2. Stamp Set $17.00 (these range from ~$15-24.00 for most sets)

3. Acrylic Stamp Block, D $8.50

4. Coloring Tool of Choice

  • 1 stamp pad in a neutral color (black, dark brown, dark grey) $7.50
  • Water color pencils (149014)  $12.00
  • Stampin' Write Markers (147159) $6.00 [on sale!]

5. Whisper White Notecards and Envelopes (131527) $7.00

6. Stampin' Scissors (103579) $10.00

Grand Total (without shipping and tax): $56.50 (with the Stampin' Write Markers Only)

One thing that I love about Stampin' Up is rather than replacing the whole ink pad or getting blocks with each kit, or buying a whole Stampin' Seal tool, Stampin' Up offers refills for most consumable items that require a 'dispenser' so to speak. It is truly environmentally friendly, and also makes it more cost effective for customers. Why buy another ink pad for $7.50, when I could buy a refill dropper that is half the cost and will refill the pad numerous times? The refills also have tons of extra uses outside of just being a refill, so this business strategy is environmentally, financially, and customer friendly!
